Hairy Beardtongue is a compact native perennial with the upper lance-shaped foliage turning burgundy in fall and sturdy, hairy dark stems. Airy panicles of small tubular blue-lavender to violet flowers with white flushed lips bloom from late spring to mid summer. Grows best in partial sun and dry to medium well-drained soil. Drought and heat tolerant.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low Maintenance. No serious pests or diseases. Root rot can occur in poorly-drained soils. Self-seeds, but not aggresively.
