Royal Azalea is an upright rounded deciduous shrub with large deep green foliage that turns an outstanding orange-red in fall. The clusters of large flushed white to blush pink flowers that bloom in late spring attract butterflies. A very versatile plant that prefers partial sun with acidic rich, well-drained soils. Azaleas are excellent pollination and butterfly attractors.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance. Moderate water needs, properly drained soils is a must to avoid root rot. Mulch helps to keep the shallow roots from drying out. Acidify as needed - tolerates neutral soils better than most azalea. Clip spent flowers as soon as practical. Rhododendrons and azaleas are susceptible to many insect and disease problems, however a healthy plant in the proper environment with proper care should have limited problems.
