Swamp Rose is a hardy native deciduous shrub with a spreading habit that often forms thickets. Its bright green leaves are pinnately compound with 5-9 leaflets and turn a lovely burgundy in fall. The fragrant pink flowers and about 2-3 inches across and usually bloom in late spring to early summer. The flowers are followed by red rose hips in the fall. Best grown in full sun and rich, moist to wet well-drained acidic soils. Pest and disease resistant.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low Maintenance. Like all roses, it can be susceptible to black spot, rust, and powdery mildew, especially in humid conditions. Pruning can be done in late winter to early spring.
