Hansa Rugosa Rose is a compact thorny deciduous shrub with an upright mounded habit and glossed crinkly deep green foliage that turns fiery orange to orange-red in fall. The intensely sweet-spice scented double flowers are deep crimson purple and blooms from late spring until frost. The orange-red rosehips begin in late summer. Best grown in full sun and rich, moist, slightly acidic well-drained soils. Hansa is highly disease resistant, and tolerates drought and salt.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Medium Maintenance. Roses are susceptible to powdery mildew, black spot, rust, and rose rosette and require regular fungicide in humid areas that experience a lot of rainfall. Pest issues include aphids, borers, scale, mites thrips, midges, and leafhoppers. Rugosa is suckering and will form dense colonies unless restrained.
